If you have a passion for helping others and are wanting to participate in the healing processes of a community then you have arrived at the right place.
Our programs and services wouldn’t be a success without the aid of our dedicated team of volunteer staff. Each year, we bring approximately thirty trained volunteers to our weekend family bereavement retreat and utilize the assistance of volunteers throughout the year for our family support groups and events.
We have been blessed to have people volunteer with us from a variety of disciplines including; Nurses, Counsellors, Social Workers, Music Therapists, Art Therapists and more. Organizations such as the Simon Fraser Men’s Soccer Team and the Canadian Coast Guard have also delivered joyous experiences to participants in our programs.
For several years now, the boys from Simon Fraser have committed themselves to an anual drop-in where they spend an afternoon with participants in our grief support program, “Circles of Strength“. These visits are always highly anticipated and often the kids acquire new superheroes.
The Coast Guard has made genereous contributions over the past couple of years by making special visits to Camp Kerry in their Hover Craft and Cormorant Helicopter. Adults and kids alike have been thrilled with touring these machines, and often members of the crew regard the families as the true champions.
We can’t continue without mentioning all of the others who come out each year to pitch in. Sometimes those that have the most to give are simply ordinary everyday people and we are just as appreciative to have them as well. Whether you are a retiree, student, or member at large,we believe that there’s always something unique that each person has to offer. Perhaps your an alumni and are ready to give back. If so, consider being a Peer Mentor Volunteer for your personal experiences can provide hope and inspiration for many.
